If you have recently gotten a pair of Dripping Springs dentures, there are a number of maintenance tips that you should know. These structures can be very costly and they can also be difficult to replace. Taking good care of them will help you to enjoy them much longer.

You should not that the first weeks or months after you have gotten a new pair of artificial teeth can actually be quite trying. This is certainly true if you have had a lot of teeth extracted before. It will take a while before the swelling abates and your gums will also take a while to recede as they naturally do after extractions.

Both of these things can affect how your teeth fit. The receding of the gums sometimes necessitates a second visit to the dentist so that the professional can resize the teeth to fit correctly. Initially, however, you just want to wear the teeth as often as possible as this will promote clotting and it will also reduce the swelling.

You must clean your new teeth on a daily basis. Much like with your natural teeth it is possible to get food stuck in these structures and for unpleasant odors to develop. Soaking them will reduce stains and kill off harmful bacteria. Drug stores carry appropriate soaking tablets that you can use during your cleaning processes or you can also mix a small amount of baking soda with water to create a mild solution.

The next step in the cleaning process is to scrub the teeth with an appropriate brush. It is far better to use a special denture brush rather than a standard toothbrush. These are designed to get into the small spaces on the underside of the structure and the bristles are specially made so that they are not too abrasive for these surfaces.

Some people try to spend less on their cleaning tools by creating their own cleaning solutions. This can be a very expensive error especially if you use products that contain strong bleaching agents. The pink parts of dentures can be whitened beyond recognition which will make them look less than natural. It is better to simply stick with trusted products and avoid bleach-related problems entirely, as these issues are not usually possible to repair.

These teeth should not be kept out of water for any considerable amount of time. If you are not keeping them in your mouth, you should instead place them in a gentle soaking solution instead. If artificial tooth structures are allowed to dry out for any extended period of time, they could warp and crack.

One very vital thing to remember about taking care of your Dripping Springs dentures is that you should not place them in water that is too hot. This will also cause these structures to warp. You must use room temperature water for soaking processes instead. You are also able to protect these structures from hard impacts by cleaning them while holding them over a folded towel or a soft pillow. Good maintenance at all times will help you keep your smile looking attractive and polished.
